HALL OF FAME – NOELENE ABE

by Clive Adams on May 7, 2024

Noelene Abe will become the 43rd person inducted into the Bowls WA Hall of Fame with Bowls WA’s Hall of Fame Committee unanimously approving her fitting nomination. Abe will be inducted at the Bowls WA Awards Night on Thursday 30th May in front of a packed audience at Optus Stadium. Last year’s induction of Kerry Andersen was the highlight of an amazing night, and Abe’s induction will be just as special.

Abe commenced bowls in 1989 at the Corrigin Bowling Club and has remained fiercely loyal to her club throughout her stellar career. Abe has been a qualified coach over the years helping many new bowlers get into our great sport and has held many Committee positions including President, Secretary and Captain, as well as winning countless titles at Club level along the way.

Abe’s State title and representative resume is both remarkable and outstanding:

  • State Singles (3 times)
  • State Champion of Champions Singles (7 times)
  • State Pairs (4 times)
  • State Triples (1 time)
  • State Fours (2 times)
  • Bowls WA Female Bowler of the Year (5 times)
  • Bowls WA Country Female Bowler of the Year (7 times)
  • Bowls WA Over 60’s Female Bowler of the Year (Year: 2020)
  • WA State Team: 164 games (Open), with Over 60’s games in addition
  • WA Over 60’s State Team Player of the Series (1 time)

In addition to this incredible list, Abe was the Australian Champion of Champions Singles winner in 2013, and was a member of the record breaking WA team that went to the 2005 Moama 5-a-side competition and came away with a host of gold medals. Abe also wore the Australian uniform in 2012/13 development team Singles against New Zealand, and in the Senior Trans Tasman series in 2019/20, playing Singles and Pairs.

Abe’s Country League record is simply too detailed to list, with a vast array of League titles and representative matches, all played in Abe’s typical competitive manner.

All these achievements whilst remaining loyal to her home Corrigin. The travel and commitment required to not only continue to make the effort, but to do so with such skill and consistency, makes Abe’s achievements stand out that much more.

Bowls WA congratulates our 43rd inductee into the Bowls WA Hall of Fame, Noelene Abe.
