WA Men’s and Women’s Open State Teams Announced
The WA High Performance Panel have been burning the midnight oil to select the Open State Team combinations that will represent Western Australia in the National Side Series at Tweed Heads from Thursday 17th to Sunday 20th October.
The recent Bowls Blitz showed the selectors what strong squads WA has, with all players, a realistic chance to make the final teams. However, only 12 men and 12 women can be selected with the remaining squad members being desperately unlucky.
There are two changes in the WA Women’s seeing Shari Solly returning to the team after a strong season, while Debbie Saunders will make her debut as a lead at Tweed Heads. Debbie has worked particularly hard on her game the past couple of seasons and thoroughly deserves her opportunity.
The WA Men’s Team sees four changes from last year. Russell Bates returns to the team after a great season which included a State Pairs title. Shane Giudice-Nairn, Ben Leggett, and Brad White will all make their debut at Tweed Heads. Shane and Ben won the State Fours together and both featured in the back end of other tournaments during the season. While, Brad had a terrific Bowls Blitz which backed up his Pennant season where he was instrumental in helping Doubleview take out the Premier League Flag.
The teams now look forward to two and a half months of hard work before they strive to continue the improvement of WA in the last few National Side Series.
