2025-26 Metro Pennant Rule Updates, Promotion and Relegation Information
With the first of the Metropolitan Pennant Competitions getting underway on Tuesday, the clubs were recently sent some documents containing rule changes, the 2026-2027 Pennant Structures and the 2025-2026 Promotions and Relegations to get down to 8 teams per colour next season.
Many of these changes were previously presented and discussed at the Metropolitan Club Forum held in May.
The highlight of the rule changes is the ability for clubs to change Thursday and Saturday Pennant start times, with agreement from both clubs, when the expected temperature is 35 degrees or above.
A modified Promotion and Relegation system has been introduced this season, with more promotions and relegations depending on which Division you are playing in. This will allow the competition to play 8 teams in each colour in the 2026-27 Metropolitan Pennant Season. A copy of how the 2026-2027 Structure will look has been linked below.
Specific Information on how 2025-2026 Pennant, Challenge and Promotion/Relegation Finals will be conducted is the 2025-2026 Bowls WA Officials Handbook under the specifc Pennant Competitions Conditions of Play.
Some of the next steps for the Bowls WA Calendar Review Commitee is finalising the 2026-2027 Bowls WA Events Calendar with a 14-week pennant season in place and the 2026-2027 Pennant Promotion and Relegation System.
