WA Para State Team Announced
Bowls WA Para Selectors are excited to announce the Team that will represent Western Australia in the National Para Championships from Tuesday 6th to Saturday 11th of October 2026 at North Beach Bowling Club .
Specific positions have not been assigned at this point, as selectors will make these final decisions in the weeks ahead. Available positions are Singles and Pairs for each gender.
In the Men’s team two of the selected players, Eddie Gollan from Armadale & Ashley Armstrong from Capel, played together in the last two Nationals held on the Gold Coast and Tasmania respectively, while Dowerin’s Wayne Allsopp returns to the Side after his last debut at the 2023 Nationals held at Warwick Bowling Club. Travis Ellison of Como Bowling Club has been selected as a Reserve for this years games.
Eddie and Ashley are strong contenders who use Bowling Arms during play, Eddie with a Bionic Arm and Ashley with a Drakes Pride Arm. Both players are looking forward to having Wayne, who also uses a DHB wheelchair bowling arm, complete the team dynamic and having Travis as a reserve.
In the Women’s team we have the same players representing WA as last years event in Burnie Tasmania with Jodie Nikolic from Yanchep combined with Lesly Marshall from Dowerin, and Maureen Brett from Kardinya. Another Kardinya Player, Diana Nixon, is selected as a Reserve for the 2026 home state Nationals. Of the women listed, Diana Nixon also uses a DHB “Hacksaw” Bowling Arm – that makes 50% of 2026’s selected state para players using a Bowling Arm!
