Community Shield a great day

by Aaron Delaporte on April 20, 2021

28 teams made up of corporate/community and social bowlers took to the greens at Hilton Park for the Bowls WA Community Shield supported by Total Tools. As is usually the case much fun and frivolity was had as the teams played four fun games across the day in what was sensational weather.

The highlight of the day was without doubt the appearance of Bowls WA Ambassador Brad Hogg who joined the teams on the green as a super sub and played some bowls with those participating. Most notable was Hoggy putting down a wrong bias and showing everyone what not to do.

Brad Hogg was also a big part of the presentations and encouraged those in attendance to take the next step with their bowls giving the social bowlers his experiences as a pennant player. We hope some of these very promising community bowlers will turn into the next generation of competitive bowlers at some stage.

Results were as follows
1st: What’s Up Doc (Eaton)
2nd: NEDS (Leeming)
3rd: Bowling Stones (Melville)
Next years Winners: TABTouch Forrestfield (Forrestfield)

Round 1 Winners: Bowls Deep (Hilton Park)
Round 2 Winners: Great Bowls of Fire (Manning)
Round 3 Winners: Quinns Bulls (Quinns Rocks)
