Ayres and Krstić take out Series medals
Matthew Ayres and Kristina Krstić have capped off the 2014 Australian Sides Series in Burnie by being awarded the Eddy/Wishart and Beryl Godfrey Medals respectively.
Ayres’ win sees a stellar 18 month period which commenced with his superb effort in being pipped in Australian Open Singles final, runner up in the State Fours and success in the State Pairs. From reports Ayres played strongly all tournament in difficult conditions, belying the fact it was his first series on the big stage.
Krstić added another award to her growing reputation as a big time player. Playing as a third to Therese Hastings, the rink finished a more than credible 4th in the overall standings with five rink wins for the competition and a plus 55 shots up aggregate.
Ayres and Krstić are no doubt part of the future of the state team and will be looked upon to take leadership roles in the years ahead.
The Eddy/Wishart and Godfrey Medals will be presented at the annual Bowls WA Awards night at the Crown Perth on the evening of 23rd May.
