Round in Review

by admin on February 7, 2016

Weekend double header Rounds 13 & 14 We had no round to review last week after almost all the games were washed out, so it’s only fitting that we have two rounds in this week’s edition. There might be a few sore bodies after the double header with some bowlers not used to backing up the next morning. There were some fears about the temperature but the games got through fairly well, due in part to the 9:30 start time.
This week’s largest aggregate win unusually came from Premier League. Cambridge’s 79 shot win over Victoria Park on Sunday took all eight points and included three double digit margins and one of the weekend’s two biggest rink wins. Clive Adams, Ross Bolton, Cliff Wooldridge and Cameron Harris won their rink 46-7 to be tied for the biggest win of the weekend. This rink has made it onto our list once before, also against Victoria Park/Carlisle.
The other rink involved in the tie for top spot is the 5th Division Red rink of William Sadecky, Leroy McDorman, Kenneth Ferguson and Darryl Harburn from Leeming. They were the higher scoring of the two rinks with a 48-9 scoreline. Leeming won all three rinks with the Sadecky rink making up a significant part of the 53 shot overall margin. The team was one of a trio of Leeming rinks that were the biggest wins in their divisions over the weekend, joined by the Ashworth and Harris skippered rinks in 3rd and 4th Division respectively.
This Saturday’s biggest aggregate in the women’s competition was recorded by Joondalup’s 3rd Division Purple side. Both rinks won in the 52-24 victory over Mosman Park, including a round high 26 shot rink win. Susan Willett, Nancy Sutton, Jeanette Armstrong and Colleen Kilford won their game 30-4 to be the competitions biggest winners. The win sees Willett move up a place on the division’s skip ladder into third.
