Round in Review week 15

by admin on February 14, 2016

BCiB Metro Pennants The physical load was easier this week with lower temperatures and just one game to play, however mentally the pressure has kicked up a notch again as teams vie for position with just three more games until finals. As a sign of how switched on all the teams were there weren’t as many big wins this week but let’s take a look at the largest.
This weekend’s largest aggregate victory came from 5th Division. With only three rinks to do the damage it is quite a feat for Kwinana side who defeated their Leeming opposition 92-41. All three rinks won by double digits for the Klippers with the greatest contributors to the 51 shot margin the rink skippered by Douglas Knott who won by 20 shots.
The biggest rink win also came from 5th Division this round. The Gosnells 1 rink in 5th Red of Malcolm Clements, Keith Davis, Murray Jackson and Ronald Martin won 45-4, the 41 shot margin the difference between the two sides as Gosnells 1 picked up five points. The win may have been all the sweeter as the match was a derby giving them some serious bragging rights around the club for the next week.
Leeming’s 2nd Division Orange side were the biggest winners in this round of the women’s competition with a 47-15 win over Bassendean. Jennifer Aikman, Debra McCavana, Rena McKinney and Marion Mickiewics did much of the damage with their 29-7 scoreline to be tied for the rounds biggest rink win. Karyn Mears and her rink also won by double digits, winning 19-9 to complete the victory.
Drawing the Leeming girls for the competition’s biggest rink win this weekend were the Inglewood team of Debbie Varley, Janet McCartney, Patricia Pearce and Lorraine Cotton in 2nd Division Lime. Their 29-7 victory helped set up a 29 shot aggregate win in which the Inglewood side took all four points.
