Women’s Country v Metro Results
played at Manning April 3rd 2016 The traditional opener to Women’s Country Week was played at the Manning Memorial Bowling Club as 96 representatives from Country and Metro battled it out on Sunday afternoon in perfect conditions.
The event which fosters good will and friend ship between the players is always played in good spirits and this year was no exception. With the state team away in the ACT this gave many other players the opportunity to participate for the metro open side. Despite lacking a few top players the metro still proved a little too good despite both teams winning four rinks each. Big wins to Pam Chalmers 29-13, Kaye Blackwell 24-15 and Kathy Gobbart 29-18 were the difference as the metro won the aggregate 169-149. The best for the Country was the rink skippered by Kerry Scott who had a good 24-14 win.
In the Over 60’s division the Metro again proved too good. Maureen Beard’s rink putting in a strong performance winning 29-8 whilst evergreen Lee Poletti skipped her rink to a 25-15 win to be the only victorious country team.
