Presidents Cup win to Mosman Park

by admin on February 12, 2018

hosted by Morley Bowling Club The Morley Bowling Club held its annual Presidents Cup carnival on Friday 9th February 2018. This competition started in the year 2000 and was the brainchild of former Morley President, Bruce Challen. Bruce’s idea was for club executive members to meet in a friendly environment, play a couple of games of bowls, and have an opportunity to network with one another about any matters they may want to discuss.  Invitations were sent to all Perth metropolitan clubs and nearby country clubs inviting them to enter a team of fours (preferably mixed) comprised of executive officers and volunteers from each club.
This year we had a field of 20 teams, including regular participants, Bowls WA. The winners, who have not won the trophy before, were the team from Mosman Park, with runners up the WA Police team 2 and Fremantle. Play finished about 3 pm enabling members from south of the river to get back to their clubs for their Friday night activities. Judging from the comments of those teams which participated, Bruce Challen’s objective was realised as everyone seems to have had an enjoyable day. The Presidents Cup will be on again at the same time next year (2nd Friday in February). We encourage all clubs to field a team!
