Bowls WA announces new event
State Mixed Pairs to be played in May Bowls WA Fixtures and Events Committee are pleased to announce a new annual championship to the Bowls Calendar with the inaugural Bowls WA State Mixed Pairs Championship which will be run on Friday (evening) 11th, Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th (if needed) May 2018. The decision to run this event was based on strong feedback from bowlers wishing to play in a Mixed State Championship.
This event will count towards the prestigious bowler of the year awards, with the Rosenthal Medal and Connie Hicks Brooch awarded to the best male and female bowlers in WA each year. Opening rounds of play will begin on either Friday or Saturday with country players only able to nominate their preferred day of play.
The format will be 3 x 3 Pairs in knockout play of 2 sets of 7 ends and a one end tiebreak (if needed) with the event held for the first time at Stirling Bowling Club on the brand new indoor surface.
Entry forms will be available in the next few weeks via the Bowls WA Website under Events.
