2018 All Abilities Championships

by admin on April 6, 2018

Tomorrow starts the 2018 All Abilities State Championships at Kardinya Bowling Club.  In its fourth year, this event encompasses people of all abilities in our communities who participate in lawn bowls.  We have two groups seeding for representation in State Sides – Bowling Arm Players for the National Bowling Arm Challenge & Physical Disability Players for the National Multi-bowl Championships (to be hosted in WA for the first time this year from May 20 to 25).  In addition, there are players representing Deaf Bowlers and Bowlers with an Intellectual Disability.
This is an event where all players bowl side-by-side playing by the same rules and same time frames.  Saturday involves 6 games of 50 minute duration with Arm Players participating in Singles while Deaf and Physical Players play Pairs.  The Intellectual group will play both Pairs and Singles and then form a team to perform Sunday as a Triples composite Team.
On Sunday there will be 5 games where we will see the Arm Players in Triples, with the Intellectual Team playing along side, the Deaf and Physical Singles.  The Arm, Deaf and Physical Single Finals will be played the last game on Sunday to wind up the weekend Championships.
