New Officials Course coming in May

Applications are invited for New Officials to attend an assessment session where Markers, Measurers and National Umpires can obtain their officiating accreditations.

MONDAYS 13th MAY, 20th MAY, 27th MAY 2024
Venue: Manning Bowling Club
Times: 5.15pm
Closing Date for applications: 30th April, or when filled

Note that to become a National Umpire you must attend and accredit at all three sessions.

Applications must be received at Bowls WA by the closing date, or when places are filled. There are currently just 16 places available for these sessions.

Course Information

Session 1: Marker: Consists of on-green and classroom training.
Session 2: Measurer: Consists of Marking Assessment plus how to use measuring instruments on-green and the applicants demonstrating their competency with those instruments. It also includes some classroom learning on the Laws pertaining to measuring.
Session 3: National Umpire: Consists of Measuring Assessment plus classroom learning of the Laws of the Sport of Bowls.

Note: This course includes measuring and candidates will be assessed on their physical ability to use measuring equipment that requires a steady hand and bending down at ground level.

All applicants will be sent the latest Officiating Manual for Markers, Measurers & Umpires and the current Laws of the Sport of Bowls, Crystal Mark 4th Edition April 2023 which they must bring to all sessions. It is advisable that, prior to attending, applicants peruse the relevant chapters in the Manual.

Dress will be mufti (casual/sportswear) with approved bowls footwear.
