BCiB Pennants Round 5 One more week closer to Christmas and another round of bowls completed with some important results across the weekend. It was another hot weekend with the temperature only marginally lower than in round four however it was cool enough for women’s pennants to take place.
There was one badge earned this week in 1st Division White. South Perth’s Scott Walker, Ashley Sharp, Gregory Reagan and Merv Hughes picked up an eight in their fifteen shot win against Kardinya.
This week’s biggest rink win came in 6th Division Blue from the Bedford rink of Carere, McDonald, Erneste and Birch who outplayed their opponents 44-7 at Maylands. The rink was a significant part of the sides 46 shot win which was the highest aggregate win in sixth division. Another rink of note came from Innaloo’s 5th Division Blue side this week. The rink of Raymond, Hotchkiss and Penswick were the biggest individual winners in 5th division with an impressive 30 shot win despite being one player short. Under the current rules rinks playing short must still play with two bowls each meaning the Innaloo boys had two less bowls each end than their opponents.
This week’s largest aggregate margin unusually came from Premier League. All four Cambridge rinks won by double digits in their 81 shot victory, including a 35 shot win from Clive Adams’ rink who had the biggest rink win in the division.
In the women’s game the largest aggregate win was tied between Gosnells in 1st Red and Melville in 2nd Division Lemon who both won by 32 shots in the two rink competition. The largest rink win also came from the Melville 2nd Division with the rink of Mias, Brannan, Clement and Moonen who won by 28 shots to set up the aggregate score.
It was a week of repetition in 1st Division this week. Stirling players Geoff White and John and Matthew Trewhella recorded the highest rink margin for the second round in succession with a different second in each of the two games. In addition this weeks biggest rink win in Premier League had an identical score line to last week. Adams, Ross Bolton, Wooldridge and Cameron Harris from Cambridge won 42-7 matching the round four score of Martin Barron D’Souza Bryson from Wanneroo.
