Champion of Champions crowned
Men’s Singles, Men’s Novice Singles and Women’s Pairs results A big weekend of bowls saw three major Champion of Champion events finalised on the weekend Sunday 13th April.
Thomas Mitchell (Victoria Park Carlisle) once again showed his class as a top line singles player claiming the prestigious Men’s Champion of Club Champion Singles hosted by Yokine Bowling Club. He defeated the very promising Kevin McKay 25-16 in the final.
The Men’s Novice Champion of Club Champion Singles at Morley Bowling Club has seen a talented athlete and perhaps a future lawn bowls champion emerge as the winner. Nathan Jones (Kardinya) proving too good for B Rickwood (East Fremantle) winning 21-11. Jones is a recent bowls convert after playing over 100 games of Softball for Australia, by all looks he will be using that International experience to his advantage in his new sport of bowls.
The final event for the day was the Women’s Champion of Club Champion Pairs which saw some new names emerge to claim a title. Melville’s Margaret Anderson and Kay Marwick winning 24-15 over the Dalkeith Nedlands pair of Ireland and McIntosh.
