Jett’s a real crackerjack on the green
Meet the seven-year-old lawn bowls sensation making waves at this year’s Australian Open on the Gold Coast, Tom Boswell reports of the Gold Coast Bulletin.
The country’s best bowlers are taking to greens across the Coast but it is Melbourne’s Jett Simmons who is drawing the biggest crowds.
Jett is not only participating in the under-18 singles, men’s pairs and men’s fours at the Open, which will run to June 25, but holding his own against his vastly more experienced opponents.
Jett has already laid out his plans for the $15,000 prize-money he could potentially win in the men’s singles with a Holden in his sights.
“I’d go wild and buy a car,” he said.
Jett comes from a family of quality bowlers with dad Todd Simmons a former Australian and Victorian representative and brother of Dylan Fisher playing for state and country.
“It’s scary how good he is getting,” Dylan said.
Jett Simmons, 7, is the youngest bowler competing at the Australian Bowls Open on the Gold Coast.
