PhD scholarships – Biomechanics and elite athlete pathways

La Trobe University, in partnership with Bowls Australia and the Australian Institute of Sport, are seeking candidates for two PhD scholarships.

The first scholarship will focus on exploring the biomechanical actions of elite lawn bowlers, using the movement science laboratory of the AIS and working with a project team from La Trobe University and the AIS. Candidates for this position should have a first class honours degree (or near completion) or equivalent in health, sport or exercise science.

The second scholarship will focus on exploring socio-developmental and skill factors and athlete pathway systems that support the development of elite bowlers, working with a project team from La Trobe University and the AIS. Candidates for this position should have a first class honours degree (or near completion) or equivalent in coaching, sport management, psychology or other related area.

These scholarships are supported by funding from Bowls Australia and the AIS and attract a top-up payment of $5,000 per year on top of the standard APA rate of $25,849 (2015 rate, indexed each year) for the duration of the scholarship. Funding is also available to support travel between the AIS and La Trobe.
