Kardy Kats claw their way to Friday flag
2015-2016 Friday Night BCiB Pennant Grand Final It’s Friday the 11th of March 2016 and the night for Pennant Grand Finals with Kardinya Red versus Bedford White. Tensions high, Kardinya teams skippered by Linda Favazzo and Janet Yakas, number two and four skips on the Red ladder; face off against Bedford’s Wendy Stone and Anita Turpin, number two and five skips on the White Ladder.
The Yakas team started with a bang, holding four then three then five in the first few ends – propelling their momentum forward to win the evening 27 to 11.
Favazzo’s team started slower, losing the first three ends by three then two then one – and this was the incentive they needed to slowly crawl back winning the bulk of the next ends by one to end the game down 9 to 13.
Kardinya became the overall 2015-2016 Friday Night Grand Final Winners 36 to 24, ending the evening on a laugh when the flag was presented missing the ‘F’ in Friday … so it was with chuckles that Kardinya is in a unique position to be the only ever club to win the ‘Women’s Riday Night BCIB Pennant Winner ’!
