Round in Review rd18

by admin on March 14, 2016

The last round of the season is almost always important. While there were a few dead rubbers most clubs were fighting for something this weekend and no doubt many celebrated a fine season afterwards. With big games come big efforts so let’s find out about the best.
The competition’s biggest aggregate victory this week came courtesy of Forrestfield’s 4th Division Red side. Not content with the two points needed to guarantee a spot in promotion finals the Forrestfield boys smashed their opponents from Manning 117-47 to secure fifth place. Robert Treadgold’s rink were the biggest contributors to the 70 shot margin with a 23 shot win but all rinks won by double digits to secure their place next week.
The round’s largest rink win came from the very same division where Roleystone had a big win over Gosnells. Much of the damage was done by Ross Meadows, Rodney Nash, Alan Mazzucchelli and Colin Ashworth who recorded a massive 45-11 victory. Their 34 shot win helped set up a 67 shot aggregate win despite losing on one rink. Although neither side could make a move of consequence on the ladder it’s clear that Roleystone wanted to go into promotion finals next week on a high.
Next week we will have a special Finals version of Round in Review.
