Kardinya start the season strongly
Round 1 in Review The BCiB Pennant Competition got underway with near perfect weather for both Men’s and Women’s pennant competitions.
As will be the case all year here we look at the biggest winners (and losers) for the week.
In the Men’s Saturday Competition Kardinya Bowling Club had a very good start to the year. Not only did their Premier League side cause an upset win over Osborne Park but the other 5 sides all finished with the majority of points over there opposition. The 5th Division Red team completed a mammoth 117 shot win over Byford in what may end up the biggest win of the year – even more amazing with it being done in a 3 rink competition. Byford may be excused for lack of match practice with their new club house yet to open however Kardinya’s Brent Morey with his team of Noel Browne, Hilary Holland and Keith Leslie recording the first 50 badge of the year winning 52-4. The other rinks weren’t too far behind with skippers Fitgerald and Jaggs winning by 45 and 24 shots each.
In the top grades Manning (Premier) and Morley (1st White) started the season in the best possible way with 50 shot 8-0 victories. The first draw of the year was recorded in 1st Blue North with Doubleview and Yokine drawing 80-80 4-4. The Doubleview boys were perhaps a little more happier with the result as they trailed by over 30 shots in early proceedings of the match.
