Caffell defeated former club mate Keith Guelfi, now at Halls Head, in the final in an assured performance. He first had to overcome a determined Lindsay Thorn (Doubleview) in the semi-final after having his back to the wall.
The score sat even at 7-7 before Thorn tore away to a 7-16 lead where he was just five shots from victory. Caffell clawed him back piece by piece to level the game at 19-19 but Thorn went within a shot of victory on the next end. Caffell however held his nerve to score the winning two shots in the next end and grab a place in the final.
Guelfi was nearly reeled in himself in his game against Wanneroo’s  Ken Boswell. After being down 6-10 Guelfi scored 12 unanswered shots to lead 18-10 before Boswell made his comeback. The game seemed to turn as Boswell won the next four ends to get himself back in the match but Guelfi steadied to start picking up singles again.
The two men fought out a close last few ends with only singles scored but it was Guelfi who scored more of them to earn a spot in the final 21-17.
In the final Caffell did not let himself get in the same perilous position as the semi controlling the game from start to finish. He scored steadily through the game limiting the opportunities Guelfi was given to claim a comfortable win 21-7.
