Heat not a worry for Joondalup
The men copped a scorcher but every game got through on Saturday. The heat wasn’t just on from the sun this round of pennants but from pressure as well with only three men’s games and one women’s after this round. Let’s see who pulled out some big wins to aid their cause.
Men’s Saturday Competition
This round’s biggest win was one of the biggest for the year with Joondalup’s 4th Division Gold running riot. Every team won comfortably in their 92 shot domination of Scarborough to themselves into strong contention for second place.
From one of the biggest wins of the year to one of the smallest. In 5th Division Red Byford picked up five points defeating Warnbro by a shot. However that result came from one rink as the first two rinks drew. With two draws and a one shot margin it has to be one of the closest across the board games we’ve seen, especially without a drawn aggregate.
The biggest rink win in this week’s men’s competition came out of 5th Division Purple. The rink skippered by Jeff Hynes won 42-6 over their opponents with their 36 shot margin more or less the difference in the aggregate. It sees Inglewood rise won place on the ladder to third but still well out of the top two.

Women’s Tuesday Competition
The source of this week’s biggest win in women’s pennants was 3rd Division Green where North Beach were comfortable winners. Their 70 shot win combined by a loss by the second placed side in the division means that they will finish in top spot for the season.
The biggest rink win this weekend was also part of a 3rd Division result. Innaloo’s Marie Appleby led her side to a 37 shot win to be the biggest rink win across both men’s and women’s pennants. They ensured the aggregate was never in doubt for Innaloo who picked a 43 shot win and five points. With the top side picking up no points the gap back to Innaloo in second is now just four points with just one game to go.
