2019 CLUB COACH COURSES

Bowls Australia Presenters and Assessors are pleased to announce the upcoming Club Coach Courses for 2019:

Saturday & Sunday – June 8 & 9

Osborne Park Bowling Club, 31 Park Street, Tuart Hill

Saturday & Sunday – July 20 & 21

Cambridge Bowling Club, 39 Chandler Avenue, Floreat

Saturday & Sunday – September 7 & 8

Bowls Safety Bay, 130 Gloucester Crescent, Shoalwater

On the day:

  • Report to the correct venue by 9 am
  • Each day will end at approximately 4:30 pm
  • Bring your Question & Answers
  • Bring your On Green Assessment Form
  • Bring your Coaching Manual
  • Bring your own lunch

The Club Coach course is ideally suited to coaches regularly working at club level, coaching teams or individuals.  Amongst a range of other knowledge and skill components, this course covers a broad range of general coaching theories and specific bowls content, including:

* Conduct a coaching session to teach skills and tactics
* Identify appropriate delivery
* Identify appropriate drills for shot development
* Apply technique analysis to provide appropriate feedback
* Identify the correlation between line and weight and environment
* Implement inclusive activities for the coaching of bowls
* Identify physical growth and development considerations
* Identify the specific responsibilities of lead, second, third and skip
* Assist athletes with basic nutritional strategies for sports performance
* Demonstrate effective communication strategies

Once we receive your registration and process payment we will mail out to you a Club Coach Manual, a series of Questions and Answers, and a receipt for payment.

NOTE: WA Working with Children Check (WWC) requirements for Club Coach Courses is currently under review.  It is a legal requirement to have a WWC when directly coaching children.  If you state that you are coaching with children this check can be obtained from most Australia Post Outlets for a cost of $11 as a volunteer.  Processing of the cards takes approximately 3 to 4 weeks so we highly recommend you apply prior to taking the Club Coach Course.

2019 Selection Modules

Bowls Australia Presenters and Assessors are pleased to announce the upcoming Selection Modules for 2019:

Thursday, Sept 12, 6-9 PM

Osborne Park Bowling Club, 31 Park Street, Tuart Hill

Thursday, Sept 19, 6-9 PM

Rossmoyne Bowling Club, 35 Tuscan Street, Rossmoyne

On the day:

  • Report to the correct venue by 5:45 pm
  • Each session will end at approximately 9:00 pm
  • Manuals will be provided upon arrival

The Selection Module is designed for club coaches, selectors and others who are keen to ensure their club has best practice selection standards.

Coaches should attend this workshop to learn more about bench-marking players, which can assist with selection, while selectors and committee members are advised to attend this workshop to learn how to create a selection policy and a healthy philosophy for their club.

2019 Competition Module

Bowls Australia Presenters and Assessors are pleased to announce the upcoming Competition Module for 2019.  Please note: this module will only be available if participant registration reaches four (4).

Wednesday, October 9, 6-9 PM

Willetton Bowling Club, Burrendah Blvd, Willetton

On the day:

  • Report to the correct venue by 5:45 pm
  • Each session will end at approximately 9:00 pm
  • Manuals will be provided upon arrival

The Competition Module focuses on the aspects of competitive bowls. Coaches should attend this workshop to gain further information on how to best prepare players for competition, where to find the laws of the sport and conditions of play and understand how to educate players to focus on the elements they can control.

The workshop contains practical on green elements where players can discover what their own shot timeline is and how best to collect statistics.  You do not need to be an accredited coach to attend a workshop – it’s open to players, committee members, selectors and other interested persons.
