Thornton to Coach Suns in Moama

by Aaron Delaporte on February 8, 2021

Australian Commonwealth Games representative and Gold Medalist Josh Thornton will be calling the shots at BPL #12 for the Perth Suns.

Victorian based Thornton will assume the role given WA’s representatives are unable to make the trip due to COVID restrictions.

Thornton’s bowls resume is impressive with highlights including:

  • 2018 Commonwealth Games Gold Medalist
  • 2018 Trans-Tasman winner
  • 2017 Australian Open Pairs Champion (with Barrie Lester)
  • 2018 & 2016 Australian Open Fours Runner Up
  • 2014/15 Australian Winners & PBA Pairs representative at World Indoor Bowls

To name but a few of the many events he has been successful in.

Currently the Participation Coordinator at Bowls Victoria, Thornton will bring a new dimension to play as he strives to make the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games team and hopefully add a BPL title along the way.
