Director’s positions confirmed at AGM

The Bowls WA Annual General Meeting held at the Thornlie Bowling Club last Saturday has confirmed the Association’s Board for 2022/2023.

Given candidate nominations did not exceed vacancies, the CEO as Returning Officer confirmed the following appointments for the next two years;

President – Doug Kelly (Meckering) Returned

Deputy President – Judy Flanagan (Binningup) Returned

Director’s – Marc Abonnel (Cockburn) Returned

                – Glenda Cooper (North Beach) Returned

                 – Philip Manning (Moora) New Director

They will join incumbent Director’s Lee Bunney (North Beach), Lisa Featherby (Mosman Park) and Appointed Director Vince Del Prete (Bassendean).

The meeting thanked retiring Board Member and Director of Country, Ross Warburton (Brunswick) for his service over the past several years.

Following the election, a Casual Vacancy remains and the Board will use its Constitutional powers to consider that position in the weeks ahead, as it will the second Appointed Director’s position, which similarly may be filled at the discretion of the Board.

At the meeting it was announced that Vice Patron Mrs Norma Samuel would be stepping down from the role. Norma’s contribution to the sport over many years has been significant, particularly in charting a path through the unification of the RWABA and WALBA; a milestone in the history of the sport in this State. Thanks very much Norma for that contribution. The CEO Ken Pride noted that he had written to Government House seeking the continuation of the Governor as the Patron of the Association, with the Board to seek a Vice Patron in time.
