BWA 125-Year Celebration Dream Team Competitions

by Pieter Harris on May 26, 2023

After months of talking about it, we are finally here. The four Dream Team selection panels have finalized their squads of 32 players and on Friday, June 2nd at the Bowls WA Awards Night, we will all finally get to see who makes the final Country and Metropolitan Dream Teams.

The best part is everyone gets to test their selection skills and potentially win a $50 Gift Card.

Four Dream Teams, mean four chances to win. All entries will be compared to the selection panels sides, with the closest entry in each Dream Team taking home the $50 gift card.

For your chance to win, go to the provided links and enter your team from the list of 32 players provided. Entries close at 12.00 pm Friday 2nd June and winners will be notified on Monday 5th June.

COMPETITION RULES

There is one $50 gift card for each of the four Dream Teams available to be selected

A player does not have to put an entry in each of the Dream Team Competitions. If you only want to enter one of the Dream Team competitions, that is alright.

A player can win multiple gift cards by selecting the closest team in multiple Dream Teams.

You cannot put in multiple entries in the same Dream Team. Only your first entry will be counted.

You may only select from the 32-player squads.

You are required to enter five rinks of four players per rink, totalling 20 players

HOW TO WIN

Each correctly named player will receive one point

Each player named in their correct position will receive one more point

Each correctly named rink of fours players in correct positions will receive five more points

The maximum number of points an entry can receive is sixty points

The entrant with the most points will be declared the winner

If two or more entrants have the same points, a random draw will determine the winner

TIPS TO WIN

Each of the Selection Panels has former players from different eras, excluding pre-1970.

To create the initial 64 squad members of each squad, the number of events won was the primary decision tool.

To reduce the squad to 32 players, the selectors used a combination of events won and their own knowledge from personal experience or reading about the players where possible.

To select the final 20 players, the selectors delved even further into the player’s backgrounds and circumstances by considering

  • what they did in competition outside of just titles against their name
  • the era they played
  • the number of competitors
  • the standard of competition
  • their own personal experiences and thoughts

Put yourself in their shoes and think like a selector for your chance to win
