Welcome to the WEST!

by Clive Adams on October 5, 2023

After a huge build-up the Nationals 2023 commences tomorrow right here in Perth, more specifically at Sorrento and Warwick, with Joondalup to join the party on Sunday.

Australian Champion of Champion Singles

Being a pathway to a World title, this is always a hotly contested event. Lee Schraner from NSW must be installed as the favourite in the Men’s field, with a remarkable record in this very event, as well as singles wins seemingly everywhere over the past couple of years. Jack East will do battle for WA, and will appreciate the home town conditions as he makes his way in one of the biggest events of his career.

Chris Ace-Watson steps out for WA in the Women’s field, and comes in with some great form behind her. BPL star Cassandra Millerick (VIC) will be a big test for Ace-Watson, as will NSW representative Samantha Ferguson.

Always quality fields for this event, with the action getting underway at 8.30am WST at Sorrento.

Australian Under-18’s Championships

The best of the current and future stars of the sport take to the greens to carve out their careers. Callum Alberti lines up for WA in the boys singles and will be better for his experience last year, and Charlotte Byfield gets her first look at the big time in the girls singles event.

With all disciplines being played this is a great opportunity for everyone to support our young players that have so much to offer.

As with the Champion of Champions event, all the matches get underway at 8.30am WST at Sorrento.

Para-Nationals

WA’s Team Manager Denise McMillan has posted some wonderful information on the Para-Nationals in her superb article on the Bowls WA website. Click HERE to view her article.

Action commences at 8.45am WST at Warwick.
