The recruitment process for the Bowls WA CEO position is well underway.

Bowls WA is seeking the services of an Honorary Auditor to replace the current Auditor, Gordon McLaren, who has given 20 years of valuable service. Expressions of interest can be emailed to andrew@bowlswa.com.au or mailed to Bowls WA.

Three more sections have been added to the draw to accommodate a number of late entries. This now means that the alignment round scheduled for Sat afternoon will now become a full knockout round involving all section winners. The additional sections can be viewed in the State Events - Draw section.

The Australian Indoor Women's Singles was played over the weekend, with a change from two to three winners being sent to Tweed Heads to compete in the National competition.

The Men's Seniors State Squad has been selected...

CAFFELL AND WISHART WIN

Gary Caffell and Graham `Rooster' Wishart combined to take out the major end of the prize in the Merredin $15 000 held over the ANZAC day weekend in Merredin.

Osborne Park will be competing in the Australian Premier League Finals at the Birrong Bowling and Sports Club in Sydney on 14-15 June.

The other sides competing will be NSW Premier League champions (to be decided), ACT champions - Tuggeranong Valley and Queensland champions - Helensvale. WA will be hosting the event in 2010 and it is expected that the other States will join in to the competition.

Following the resignation of Jarrad Rainoldi, we are seeking applications for the Bowls WA Development Officer position. The duty statement can be viewed in the Resources - General section. Applications will close on 16 May 2008.

Nominations are invited for the positions of Men's State Coach, Men's State Selectors (2) and Women's State Selector (1). Nomination form and duty statement for each of the positions can be found in the Resources - General section. Nominations close on 16 May 2008.

In a thrilling match Therese defeated Rinske Butcher (North Beach)105 to 95.
It was a fantastic game and the ladies showed they were tough- not many players would compete in this weather!

12-year-old Aaron Smith (York), the youngest of three brothers competing in this years State Junior Open Country Singles has taken out the championships.
Aaron defeated Matthew France (Merredin) in the final 27 - 9.
Aaron took revenge on Matthew after he beat his older brother Nathan in the first round knockout. There were some fantastic games being held throughout this event and there will be many more to come with the fours starting Thursday, Pairs on Monday and the Singles on Wednesday.

MEN'S SENIORS LIGHTNING CARNIVAL
For over 60's only

Entries for the Australian Open close on 7 January. They can be entered online through the Bowls Australia website - www.bowlsaustralia.com.au.

There will also be Over 60s men's and women's Triples and, given the success of the Over 60s concept in WA, it would be nice to see this translated into participation in the national competition.

WA'S Men's State Selectors have announced their side to play against the South West Bowling Zone on Sunday 4th November, 2007.

The teams for the Men's State Squad vs the South West Bowling Zone have been selected.
The game will take place on Sunday the 4th November 2007 at Busselton.

Bowls WA scooped the pool at the 2007 Sport and Recreation Awards at Burswood last night by taking out the Industry Award for Management and then going on to win the "best of the best" Minister's Award for Excellence. This Award is presented to the award category winner deemed most outstanding from all category winners. The Award carried a $10,000 prize, the biggest award of its kind in Australia.

At a meeting in Northam last night, the men's and women's Avon Valley Bowling League agreed to unify thus completing the process of unifying all the 21 Country Leagues. The attention will now focus on unifying the 4 Country Zones. Once completed, all layers of bowls administration above clubs and right up to the international level will be unified. Whilst most clubs are unified, there is no compulsion to do so. The decision is one for each club to make.

Bowls WA has decided to embark on an ambitous project to collect comprehensive information about all the 223 bowling clubs in WA.
