MUNDARING'S TREMENDOUS TRIO
The Mundaring trio of Judy Stein, Carole Chaney and Olivia Linden have taken out the 2009-2010 Women’s State Triples title against the composite side of Lisa Featherby, Bianca-Rose Riseborough and Helen Shemeld.
The semi-finals saw Stein’s team have a thrilling win against the composite team of Therese Hastings, Helen Morss and Maureen Harken. Hastings team took an early lead and it looked like it was all but over when Stein’s team rallied, picking up an amazing 12 or so shots to eventually win by a mere one shot, 16-15.
The other semi-final saw Featherby’s team overcome Gingin’s Kathy Gobbart, Noeleen Keeffe and Kerry Fewster. Gobbart had two runs on the last end to kill the end and her two bowls just missed by a whisker, handing the game to Featherby, 17-11.
The final had the Mundaring team come out with a winning combination. All three players contributed to setting up the heads. Whilst Featherby’s team struggled to get it, Stein’s team skipped away to a very healthy lead. It was a game of catch up for Featherby’s team, there were a few chances when they could make numbers but Stein didn’t let that happen. The team out bowled their opposition and took the title 26-14.
