MEN'S OVER 60'S STATE SINGLES

 --- Men's Over 60's State Singles Winners 2010

The Bowls WA Men's Over 60's State Singles commenced on Monday the 15th March with games played at Sorrento, Mt Pleasant and Osborne Park Bowling Clubs. The finals were held at the Osborne Park Bowling Club.

Over one hundred Over 60's players nominated to compete in the third year of the Bowls WA Over 60's State Singles event.

Reg Humphryson from Wanneroo was set to defend last year title and make it two in a row, but Safety Bay's Ray Kennedy had other ideas. Coming against two powerhouse singles players, in Humphryson and Cockburn's Steve Srhoy, Kennedy held strong and won through the section before coming being knockout out by Stirling's Marko Krajancic in the Continuation Games.

Marko Krajancic sized up his opposition from the bottom of the draw, whilst brother Tony Krajancic did so from the top. The mouth-watering thought of the brothers playing off in the final was dashed by Beaumaris's Richard Sloan.

Sloan took out Marko in the Quarter Finals, then Sorrento Masters Singles Winner Mark Pasalich in the Semi's.

Tony Krajancic faced tough opposition from Melville's Michael Cooper in the Quarters and again from Mt Pleasant's John Terrell in the other Semi-final.

Sloan was ready to take out the other Krajancic, whilst Tony was set for brotherly revenge.

The final was extremely close, with great bowls from both players. At one point it was 15 all before Krajancic's excellent driving skills came into play. He played some fantastic shots to get himself out of trouble and ran away to win the game 25-18.

Congratulations to all of the players.
