A proud 80 year old, Renate overcame State Squad member Lexie Harris (Busselton) in the first Semi Final by coming through in the second half of the match after being down in the first. A number of seven point ends got her back into the match before finishing it off with consecutive eights to win 100-90.
Nerrida had a close game all the way in her semi final against Pauline Bourne (Sorrento). The two ladies went shot for shot before Bourne opened up the biggest lead of the match 85-75. With only a few ends to play, Porteous reeled off an eight and a nine to jump to the lead and then hung on to win 101-99.
In the first to 100 final Coote started strongly and built a substantial lead of 55-25 before Porteous started to claw her way back. A number of 7-3 ends closed the gap and then a big 9 followed a couple of ends later saw Porteous draw within 10 with the score 85-75. Immediately after dropping the 10, Coote hit back immediately with a 9 of her own to extend her margin and move within six of the finish line. A score of only two on the second last end, put Coote back under pressure but while being down on the last end, Coote drew two shots within a foot to take points and take home the 2020-21 100up Championship.
Renate Coote previously won the 100up singles in 2018.
