Nominations Open Australian of the Year Awards – Nominations open
The Australian of the Year has been acknowledging achievements and contributions to the nation since 1960. The Awards profile Australians who are role models for us all, who inspire us through their actions and achievements and encourage us to work towards making Australia an even greater country. The Australian of the Year Awards provide the opportunity to recognise those in our community we admire, someone worthy of our attention, one nomination is all it takes.
With recent winners such as 2013 Young Australian of the year Azimi, 2014 Senior Australian of the Year Fred Chaney and 2015 Young Australian of the Year Drisana Levitzke-Gray, the accomplishments of Western Australians have been well represented, however, more can be done to highlight the remarkable stories of our State’s quiet achievers.
You are encouraged to personally nominate an Australian you admire in one of the following categories:
1. Australian of the Year
2. Senior Australian of the Year
3. Young Australian of the Year
4. Local Hero
Nominations are sought for Australians from all backgrounds and fields of endeavour including: community service, reconciliation, humanitarian, business, science & technology, arts, entertainment, sport, education, the environment and in the case of the Local Hero award, those making an extraordinary difference locally.
Nominations close 7 August 2016
