Firies Bowls Carnival in Mandurah

by Aaron Delaporte on February 15, 2019

The 23rd Australasian Fire Services Bowls Carnival more commonly known as the ‘Firies’ carnival is being jointly held at the Halls Head and Port Bouvard Bowling Clubs from March 3-8th 2019. There will be approx 100 bowlers and 60 partners attending from New Zealand and various Australian states. The last carnival, which is held every 18 months, was at Tweed Heads in October 2017.

The welcome function will be held on Saturday 2 March at the Halls Head Bowling Club. The competition runs daily through to the wind up/presentation function on Friday 8 March.

There will be singles, pairs and fours games spread between the 2 clubs over the week  with the finals being played on Friday afternoon.

Members of the public are invited to come along and see our ‘Firies’ in action and renew old friendships. The City of Mandurah will benefit substantially especially with regard to tourism and related businesses.

Full details of the carnival can be obtained from the Halls Head bowling club website.

On a different matter, the Halls Head bowling club will be turning on the ‘lights’ on Saturday evening 9 March to light our 4 greens, everyone welcome.
